A FIT GAL'S GUIDE TO BEING SINGLE ON VALENTINE'S DAY

A FIT GAL'S GUIDE TO BEING SINGLE ON VALENTINE'S DAY

Okay so I may or may not have been single for the past 28 Valentine’s Days throughout my life. I used to get sad and upset and have anxiety over whether or not the guy I was interested in and crushing on was going to buy me anything for Valentine’s Day. Put it this way, I always had super high expectations that were never met and then I just felt completely BLEHHH on Vday.

A few years ago when I started setting monthly intentions every February I would write the same thing “Enjoy Valentine’s Day and embrace being single”. Since then that is exactly what I have done! Allow me to share with you my experience as a single lady on a few Valentine’s Days from the past! And of course I will share some ideas for what to do this year if you are a SINGLE LADY or if your significant other is unavailable!

MY VALENTINE’S DAY WITH MYSELF & FAMILY

Last year on Valentine’s Day I did the UNTHINKABLE… I spent it with my BROTHER! HAHA. In all seriousness though it was an absolute blast! A family member is someone that is hopefully reliable, won’t stand you up, and is someone you will always have a good time with no matter what. Before the fun began I had read a POPSUGAR article I believe that AM about what to do if you are single on Valentine’s Day. I kid you not one of the things listed was dress up in lingerie and take photos! I laughed out loud and thought you know what? I am going to do this… in my version of sexy lingerie. Fast forward to me snapping away in my Taco Bell One Piece and that made for some fun photos for myself and for the Gram! That evening you better bet your bottom I was at Taco Bell with my brother. I wanted to do the whole candlelight dinner but decided to have some fun with the Fire sauce packets instead! We then ended the night at El Capitan Theatre for a Valentine’s Day showing of Lady and The Tramp, which side note is playing this year too if this is up your alley! No regrets this Valentine’s Day and expectations met!

MY VALENTINE’S DAY WITH THE BESTIE

There truly is nothing more romantic and hysterical than a candlelit dinner at The White Castle in Highland, Indiana. Getting dolled up for the White Castle back-drop and sipping on Grape Fanta & munching on sliders with Dussledorf Sauce has to easily be one of my best Valentine’s Day memories. We literally had to call and make reservations ahead of time AND they had a specially made Valentine’s Day menu with a server who comes around and takes your order. Now this is what best friends are for! Click HERE for reservations!

MY DESPERATE-FOR-A-DATE VALENTINE’S DAY

I am not going to bore you with every detail of this date BUT I will share with you how this came about and why it never happened again. The truth is I felt left out on Valentine’s Day and desperate to go out with a guy. So I went out with a guy from one of the infamous dating apps. And here is how it went down… It started by him parking a solid mile away from a rooftop bar in Beverly Hills that he choose to take me too. I insisted we park closer because I was in high heels and we needed to walk down a rocky alley to get to where we were going and he insisted he wanted free parking and not to valet. STRIKE 1. On the date he returned his drink TWICE to the waitress after he called her over saying “you come here come here” and said his drink was WAY TOO STRONG and that he had mentioned he was driving and didn’t want it strong. How about since you drove me and you are that concerned you don’t drink at all. Just a thought! LOL Or stop being a you know what! STRIKE 2.

And finally when the date was wrapping up he walked over to a couple clearly on a date and was insisting he knew the guy from somewhere and had an entire networking conversation with the guy as me and the other girl awkwardly sat by. When he came back he said to me that he didn’t really know that guy but he looked like someone he could do business with so they exchanged business cards and he said to me “Now that is how you network in LA”. And I replied and said “I didn’t realize we were on a LinkedIn Meet Up”. And he laughed at me and asked if we were going back to my place. STRIKE 3! You are OUT BUDDY! Point being… I know Valentine’s Day is just another day BUT it is a day meant to be enjoyed. If that means spending it alone or with girlfriends/guy friends and not with a significant other then OWN IT! Don’t be embarrassed by it or feel like you have to spend it with a significant other for it to feel complete! Now Check out my suggestions for a Valentine’s Day you won’t regret!

A SINGLE LADIES VALENTINE’S DAY 2019

NETFLIX AND CHILL WITH NOAH CENTINEO

That is if you haven’t already. Log onto your Netflix account, or log onto your mom’s best friend’s sister’s cousin’s daughter’s account, and cozy up to HEARTTHROB Noah Centineo in “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”, “SPF-18”, and “Sierra Burgess is a Loser”. Make sure to have the red wine on deck too. These movies are cheesier than a Cheesy Gordita Crunch from Taco Bell, but there is no such thing as too much Noah Centineo. ENJOY! Every year there is that ONE MOVIE that obviously was made for us gal’s to rally up, throw them sweats on, and sneak our guilty pleasures into the movie theatre to enjoy. Happy GALENTINE’S DAY!
