5 HOLIDAY TIPS THAT KEPT ME ON TRACK WEEKS 7 TO 10 OF MY DETOX

Hi there everyone! I am so sorry for being MIA the past few weeks BUT the good news is I have been working on my MIND and BODY and to be completely honest I have been enjoying myself, the holidays, and just living and having FUN! Life Happens! My original goal was to do a weekly blog post on my progress but things just didn’t go according to plan. Which is totally okay! To round up the past month I am going to share with you 5 holiday tips that helped me during the Thanksgiving holiday, holiday parties, and just the past few weeks of cold weather and this funky time change we got going on! And of course I will be sharing my weekly progress pics! Hope you enjoy!

6 HOLIDAY TIPS TO KEEP YOU ON TRACK

1. PLAN TO BE HEALTHY BEFORE THE PARTY

  • This is always KEY for helping me keep on track. If it’s Monday and I know I have holiday parties on Friday and Saturday then every other day of the week is going to be a super healthy, clean day with no alcohol/social drinking and I will be doing whatever it takes to reach my daily step goal! Don’t use the holidays as an excuse to go crazy everyday! This falls back to the infamous 80/20 rule. Eating right and exercising 80% of the time and the other 20% go a little crazy!

2. ENJOY THE GOODS THEN MOVE ON

  • The first thing I do the day after a holiday party or after getting back from a weekend getaway/travel is get right back on track. Whether that means going straight to Trader Joes for a healthy grocery haul or starting my day in the kitchen prepping some healthy bites, I be sure to enjoy myself at the party and then get right back to it the next day. No Excuses! And no downward spiral in the days to follow.

3. EAT YOUR CALORIES INSTEAD OF DRINKING THEM

  • All those holiday cocktails, drinks, hot chocolates, etc… I don’t know about you but I would rather try all the foods than rack up calories on sugary drinks… which also lead to painful hangovers. (Hello Almost 30!). Which leads me to the next tip…

4. HYDRATE. HYDRATE. HYDRATE.

  • Leading up to the party or event drink a lot of water! Believe it or not your eyes may be bigger than your stomach and in reality you may just be hydrated and thirsty. Make sure you are staying hydrated so that you can be aware of just how hungry you really are. And keep drinking water afterwards. I always think of the gallon of water I drink a day as a way to flush out all the bad in my body and wake up the next day with a fresh slate!

5. KEEP MOVING

  • Find a way to keep moving. If the weather is crap drive to the mall and spend an hour walking around there. I am fortunate enough to live in an area where I can easily go outside and walk to wherever I need to go and so it’s easy for me to choose to walk rather than drive. If you are going to a party where you will be cozying up on the couch for the night then go for an AM walk beforehand! Sneak in those gym sessions! Working out for an hour a day is only 4% of your entire day!

And of course I cannot reiterate enough to write everything down and keep track of what you are putting into your body, especially when you have specific weight loss or transformation goals you are trying to achieve. Be honest with yourself. Writing it all down holds you accountable! And snap those progress pics!
